HEAT TRANSFER SYSTEMS

Many plants in the chemical and process industries depend on a controlled supply of heat or cold. That’s why reliable heat transfer systems are so essential.

Water-glycol mixtures, gases, mineral and synthetic oils, molten salts and even liquid metals are available as heat transfer media, which are brought to the desired temperatures by the heater system. Bertrams has many years of experience in the design, project planning and manufacture of complete turnkey plants and offers a tailor-made solution for every heating problem.

Salt mixtures for temperatures far above 500°C

The use of molten salts as heat transfer media for high temperatures up to 630°C was developed by Bertrams for the high concentration of caustic soda. Other industries, such as melamine production, have been served for many years with the same Bertrams technology. At operating temperatures, molten salts have low viscosity and are circulated without pressure.  Picture

Oils for temperatures from -50°C to 410°C.

Both in the liquid and vapor phase (flash systems), these media provide an ideal basis for supplying heat to a wide variety of production processes. Heating capacities range from 10 kW to about 35 MW, covering a wide range of requirements. Larger outputs are achieved by interconnecting several systems.

Regardless of the heat transfer medium utilized and the plant capacity, a large number of energy sources can be used. The trend is away from polluting coal and heavy or light fuel oil plants to natural gas, hydrogen, various substitute fuels and electrically heated systems.
